I have spent the day trying to convert some audio loops to JS2 so that I could get more variation and use Toontrack Superior too. One of my methods was to follow the cursor in Jamstix to decide where snare and kick appeared. However, that proved useless. Jamstix is ahead of the sound I hear from the audio track.
I know this has to do with latency. Melodyne plugin has the same problem when I try to figure out where to place a note. Cubase correct for audio latency, but clearly not the visual one when something moves in the plugin.
Is there something that could be done? Since the GUI is ahead of time, I guess you could at least make available some kind of offset parameter that could be manually adjusted if it is not possible to do automatically.
Also I need a simple way to get a midi pattern from Cubase into Jamstix. Cubase cannot export a simple midi clip as a midi file. So it is a bit complicated to get from a drum midi track to patterns for use in Jamstix. |

Could it be because your host is using plugin delay compensation to make up for latency delay in one of your plugins so the audio is slightly off? If so, there is probably nothing that can be done. In that case, it's not Jamstix that is doing it.
It may not be, but just a suggestion of what might be causing it.

Cubase automatically compensates, so my assumption all the time has been that this was not JS2's fault.
I am just asking Zauni if it would be possible to add some kind of GUI delay, maybe in the preferences section, so that the GUI timing could be adjusted to the sound output. Sometimes you do need to visually correlate with the beats you hear to add notes in the JS2 at correct places the grid. |

JS2 cannot compensate for host-induced delays. The visual is generated when the audio buffer is filled. JS2 has no control or knowledge of when the host actually plays that buffer. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
