K, running JS2, for the record. I'm fairly anal about where the fills go, so I've got an intro, and an 8 bar groove which currently repeats 100 times. That's it. I want to select measure number XX. If I click on it, it tells me that it's measure XX, but doesn't select it or seemingly let me do anything. If I unlock JS from the transport, and use the rewind button, the button depresses, but doesn't DO anything. If I scroll across the notation icon (above the mini-measures), it goes from ms 1, 2, then jumps to 5, 8, and on in increments of 3. For the life of me I can't figure out how to select measure 6 or 7!
what am I missing?!?!?!? |

If your host is stopped, clicking on bar X in the timeline will select the bar and let you edit it as necessary. What host are you using? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Here is a picture. This is n-Track 5.1.1 with JS2 loaded as VSTi. Host is stopped and I clicked on bar 7 in the timeline. As you can see in the bar/beat counters of JS2, bar 7 is loaded as expected.
Make sure you do not use a DXi-wrapped Jamstix (in case you have DirectiXer). n-Track does not handle the wrapper properly.

When I do "that" (select bar 7), the "bar" doesn't depress, the core # doesn't change, I get no feedback telling me that I've selected it. I too am using N 5.1.1, and am fairly confident I'm not using a DXi wrapper, although that's not something I know alot about.
For what it's worth, I'm running JS 2.2 Beta 5. I'm open to suggestions. |

Please tell me all the n-Track menu items you are passing when adding Jamstix 2. My sequence is as follows:
- Add Channel
- Add New Instrument Channel
- VSTi
- VST Jamstix 2 _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I'm doing it the same way you are.
right now, I'm currently at work, using the JS 2.1.0 demo, and the N-track 4.0.5 demo, and have the same issue. |

Something must be amiss here. It works fine on all our test machines. I suggest you try posting at the n-Track forum where there are several Jamstix users. My knowledge of n-Track is unfortunately very limited. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

You may be on to something. I just learned a whole lot, that I think I should share with you.
I typically don't use styles, so when I loaded a style a moment ago, I noticed there were lots of parts. If I select the part, it works. If I select the bar, it works!
However, the minute I hit "Record" w/in N-track, I can't get that functionality to come back. I can't get it to select the parts, or the measures. It's like the Host record "STOP" isn't being sent to JS2...
This actually answers some other questions -- I didn't think you could "jump" to a part.
So, my question to you is, can you duplicate what I'm describing? Try recording, then stop and see if it still allows you to select the measure...
thanks for your patience. |

I added an audio track and recorded a bit. Then I stopped n-Track and clicked a bar in JS2 and it still works. Again, this is with 5.1.1.
Btw, I always use a quickstart song (Jam Session - Rock) for all this testing. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Seriously. That's weird. could it be a sound card issue? You're saying it's an N-track issue, and I'm ok with that, but what would I tell Flavio? Can you narrow down the likely problem or area of concern?
I do appreciate your help. |

It's always a good idea to try a different ASIO driver just to exclude that factor. I generally recommend ASIO4ALL.
Aside from that, I have no idea what the problem could be other than that n-Track doesn't set the HostStopped flag properly but it works fine here with several test machines so I'm reluctant to point the finger in that direction. I'm wondering if there are n-Track options that might affect this behavior but I don't know enough about n-Track. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

You know what?...same thing is happening here, with FL Studio 7.
Can't edit once i've played through with the sequencer.
I can edit as much as i need to as i'm building the track but, once i play the part, its as if it can no longer be seen or edited.

| Just for the record, I did download a copy of Reaper, and it works just fine. But I'm very interested to know that Scaramouche is having the same the issue. Ralph? |

I cannot duplicate the problem in FL Studio either. I'll see if we can come up with a possible reason but it's hard when we cannot duplicate it ourselves here. I must also mention that there are no such issues at all with Sonar, Cubase, REAPER so it's got to have something to do with the host side and maybe specific configurations. Such things often go unnoticed since there are not many plugins needing song position information the way Jamstix does. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
