|
|
Greetings,
I have downloaded the demo to try. I came across a problem where I am unable to open the program. There is no icon on the desktop nor found in the folder that enables me to open the application.
I can see all the folders and the files within them installed. There is just no .exe file to execute the program.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Hi Rick
Jamstix is a VST instrument, and needs to be used in a host sequencer program, Cubase, Reaper etc.
If you don't yet own one, you can download Reaper trial.
You then have to make sure, that the "Jamstix.dll" is in the right VST folder.
If you need more help, post again

Thanks Studio 64. I am able to see the program. I am using Cakewalk's Sonar HS 4 VST adapter.
I am trying to follow the directions in the Jamstix help file. I selected the song the help file requests. I am just not seeing anything in the tracks in Cakewalk to play. Am I supposed to see audio (wav) images in the Jamstix tracks in order to play?
And I am not finding any button that will Play in Jamstix. |

Hi Rick
You wont see anything in Cakewalk, the activity will be in the Jamstix GUI
In a Cakewalk midi track, you will have Jamstix selected as the output.
Then if you have a Jamstix song loaded in Jamstix, playing Cakewalk, should then play the drums at the tempo set in Cakewalk.
After you have played the track through, you can drag and drop the song from Jamstix to the cakewalk track, which will give you the editable Midi data on that track.
Setting Jamstix to Drum Module, will then play that midi data.
But you dont really need to do that, just let Jamstix do its own thing.
Have fun _________________ john-studio64

Thanks again for all your help.
I took your instruction and am now hearing the parts where I can pick the drummer and style.
I hate to ask you more questions. But, now that I am hearing the "noise" that the demo version stated it has, I believe I am almost there. In my excitement, I have been madly clicking anything in the "Quickstart" window to actually listen to the song. But, I just cannot get it to play.
Any ideas on how I can actually hear the groove in the fashion shown in the measures below?
Thanks,
Rick |

Thanks Studio 64,
I appreciate your information. I had found the video when I first logged into the site. Being overwhelmed by what this product could do, I did not put it together immediately. I downloaded a song into Cakewalk I had written that had MIDI drums. And I inserted the Jamstix. It worked.
Jamstix did not really acknowledge the original MIDI data in my song. It started when it wanted and not when the drum data started.
It sounds very impressive. I can see this being a great compositional tool.
Thanks again!

Hi
The drum mapping in Jamstix is slightly different from the "so called" standard.
So if you are playing a midi drum track generated by another drum module, that could be your problem.
I hope you go ahead and buy the full version, I think it's very good value, and you will not regret it.

The arrangement of Jamstix is not based on MIDI data received but on the parts in the Jamstix 2 song sheet. Please adjust them to fit your specific needs for the given song. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
