I just got a set of headphones and I like to listen to the guitar and drums thru the headphones while I record......
I already have a song created in jamstix, and I've played with the levels to try and get them to around -18 db.
But then I set my guitar up, and have the level to where I want, the drums are louder than the guitar. I'd like to balance that in my headphones when I record. Is there an easy way to do that without bringing down every fader on my drum kit?
Is there even a proper way to set the levels of the drums in jamstix for optimum recording? |

| Use the mixer faders in Jamstix, or, what I do, set up a drum bus, route all drums to it, and you have one fader that adjusts the whole kit. |

| Could you explain a little more about a drum bus? Is this a way to adjust the volume in ONLY your headphones? |

| Send the output of the drum bus to your headphone send, I'm assuming that it is a different send than your master. If you have the individual outputs of your drum tracks assigned to master , then insert the drum bus on each drum track, and use each send to the drum bus to mix your kit. Then the drum bus fader will only affect your headphone mix. HTH. |

I never thought of doing this.
Do you know how you would set it up in Ableton live? _________________ EMU 1820M user |

| Really don't know anything about Ableton. I use Sonar PE, but there must be a way in Ableton to set up sends from a track. In Sonar, you insert a stereo bus in the output section, and insert sends to that bus in each audio track. Set the output of the new bus to any out you want ( master, headphone mix, or another bus). |

| In Ableton Live it´s easy to make up a bus. You just have to specify where a track gets a signal from. |

Yeah, like doc said, create a new audio track in ableton, and tell it to get the audio from the track that has Jamstix in it, and thats it. Now you can control how loud or low the out of JS plays. But, you have to tell the JS track to send the audio to the new audio track you just created.
Try it. _________________ Musikman
