I am considering this program. I have been searching for a good drum program to help write my songs. I am a guitarist,a metal guitarist,and I am really liking the sound of the Metal Pak. Ive been looking into BFD2 and EZ Drummer as well but I like these sounds so far.

So here goes:

[b]1. Can this be used as a standalone drum machine or does it need a host?

2.If it needs a host(as I think I read it does)which one? I have a copy( )of Fruity Loops,though I never messed with it much.

3. Can someone explain this host thing to me? I never used anything like this before and dont know exactly what I am supposed to do.I am not an idiot and am computer literate but before I spend,I'd like to get input from users rather reading a manual online for something I dont have yet.Is this program user friendly?[/b]
So if anyone would be kind enough to explain the above,I would be grateful.

You know, theres a free demo you can try out. Id suggest you start with that. Dont spend money on a bunch of other drum modules ,BDF2 etc until you understand how JS 2 works.
JS is a VSTi plug in. Using a host program like "fruityloops" you would run JS within your host (fruityloops). I know nothing about fruityloops compatibility with JS

JS is a highly flexible program. You can do almost anything you can think of doing with a drum module and it works with a large variety of hosts. I personally use Acid Pro 6.0
Lstly, read the manual along with playing with the demo. It will answer alot of your questions you have.

I think a lot of guys use Jamstix with other programs. I use it with BFD because the samples are really good, not that the Rayzoon stuff is not good, it's just a preference. Where the program excels is where you have a steady loop and you need a bit of variation. The things it comes up with are priceless, and when you consider what it costs it's a no brainer. If all you've got is Jamstix it's still the business.

Just like elevenfiftyeight says, try the demo and see how things go.
I heard that Jamstix works just fine with Fruityloops (now FLStudio) but, according to the main page on the JS webby, has only been tested from version 5.

You need to load JS as a vsti into FL and take it from there.
I use FL as a host for many of my soft synths and it works a treat, am just waiting on my reg key to download JS2.

Download the demo and see how things go for you, i don't have the hang of JS yet, so can't really comment on its performance with FL.

metalman1221: JS2 works well with FL 5,6 and 7. You can also use MiniHost or SAVIHost as minimal host to get essentially a stand-alone Jamstix. Try the demo and we'll be here for any issues or questions.
