Hello!

I'm new to Jamstix and still trying to figure out how it works and how I can use it for my needs.
One thing I can't get to work is Jam with Midi. Jamstix is playing but it doesn't seem to adapt to my style of playing, that is the way of playing doesn't vary.

Maybe it's because I didn't set up the input monitoring correctly Embarassed . I can either not see the yellow LED flash up or it flashes up but I play my midi instrument and the drums simultaneously. Still the style of playing stays the same.
By the way, I'm working with Cubase SX3.

I'd be grateful if someone could help me.

Cheers,

Tal

Hi Tal,
a) Go to 'Options' and uncheck 'MIDI Play In Jam'
b) Make sure the yellow MIDI light is on when you play

Now watch the song power knob above the song sheet. It must turn in response to your MIDI instrument. Now play very softly so the knob turns far left and you will hear it adapt the playing (snare sidestick, reduced complexity etc.). Now play very hard so the knob is all the way right and you will hear the dynamics go up and a switch to ride or open hats.

Thanks. That did it. Smile

Now is it also possible to record when jamstix is jamming live?

It depends on the host. Some hosts can easily record VSTi audio output, such as REAPER. Others, including Cubase, require you to 'bounce' or 'freeze' to get an audio clip of VSTi audio output.

Oh, ok. I didn't explain that properly.

I know how to create an audio track in Cubase, but I was talking about how to get a midi track.
Jamstix followed what I was playing now, but when trying to record the output I only got a midi track of the other instrument I was playing. What I want is to record a midi track of jamstix while jamming, or isn't that possible?

Yes, you can do that. Add a MIDI track to Cubase with input=Jamstix 2. Make sure 'MIDI Output' is enabled in the JS2 Options.

I see. After adding another Jamstix track it worked. Thanks for the fast replies and Merry X-mas. Very Happy
