I gave up with Savihost,it freezes my machine,..
In theyr site it says something like this :
"..Just rename the shell identical to whatever plugin you want to load,
then run the shell and the plugin will be loaded."
the thing is i rename it to the vst i want to use,Jamstix2 of course, but,it doesnt load.
Thanks! |

Have you considered Reaper? The demo isn't a demo -it is the full app, has absolutely no restrictions and is not time-limited....the only difference is a 6-second nag screen when you fire it up. I ditched Sonar in favor of Reaper. You're supposed to pay for it after 30 days though, so when your guilt gets the better of you, you can pay for a non-commercial license for a mere 50 bucks (I did...gave me warm tinglies all over) Even the commercial license is only 250 bucks.
It's a full fledged music studio, and thus a pretty complex program, but if all you want to do is host Jamstix, that's easy to do. Let me know if you decide to try it, and I'll give you the step-by-step to insert and set up Jamstix, save your project, and next time you fire it up it'll automatically load your Jamstix project and all you have to do is hit space and start jamming, assuming you set Jamstix up to play before you saved.
As a bonus, if you decide you want to actually record yourself, you'll already have the software to do it, and it's on par with all the big-boys (Sonar, Cubase, Protools yada yada).
Oh, and the installer is only 3.1mb (even though it has a ton of FX including multiband compressor...the works, should you decide to get serious).

Mini vsti host type of utils probably won't work with Jamstix as they just load the VSTi to use as a standalone instrument, which is ok for synths and the like.
I haven't seen the Kong onebut that's what it sounds like it is
But they have no tempo or timeline data that Jamstix can use to know what tempo to play at or which bar you are at.
+1 for Reaper as a good option if you need a host for Jamstix.

Savihost is working more or less fine here.
After renaming the file should read "jamstix2.exe".
Some small issues, nothing serious.
Most annoying : It switches on window animation everytime I launch it.
I don't use it much, but for a quick check on the internet PC it's ok here.
Cheers,

[quote="OldGeezer"]Have you considered Reaper?
Thanks you all for answering my post,
I do know about Reaper,i work with it too..just like with Sonar,..they all can do the host thing for JS,but i´m looking for a stand alone application to run only JS,and sync it to Band In a Box.
I play mostly jams with Band in a box and i only need JS to play the drums for me,while working in a jam with Band in box.
What i did now is create a template just for JS within Sonar (or Reaper )and minimize its window while jamming with BandInbox.
Unfortunnely, everytime i hit stop button in Band in a Box,to change anything, the template from Sonar/JS closes and i have to click it again to reload the damn Host
Will work around
Thanks again!
