spooky how the version numbers have almost aligned Smile

Running Reaper 2.014 and Jamstix 2.14 DEMO. I have no trouble installing and getting jamstik to work, however it crashes reaper every once in a while.

I'll buy Jamstix the second I am assured it will run stable in reaper.

This post states 2.1 addressed some of these issues.

I guess i can do a complete dump of my system info, but I'll first say I've got a quad (not even hitting 1% CPU), and everything was completely stable prior to jamstix.

thoughts on reaper/jamstix ?
thanks

I run Reaper (2.12 - haven't got round to updating yet) and 2.14 of Jamstix no problems.

I'm on a Q6600 quad core on an Abit IP35Pro Mobo with 4 GB RAM.

Does it crash randomly or when you perform a specific action?

I thought Jamstix was causing a crash the other week as it coincided with upgrading to 2.14 and the metal pak, but after troubleshooting realised it was because I had 2 instances of FreeAmp2 in the project and this was a known bug with SynthEdit plugs that 2 instances of the same plug could cause a crash.
Replaced 1 instance with another amp sim and no more crashes.

So, I've been running it in Reaper, with the only other VST being ManyTone/ManyBass. No other midi tracks. No audio tracks.

Just letting it run, and poking around with jamstix interface open, after 10 minutes I started getting. Invalid pointer operation. About 5 in a row. Reaper (and jamstix) kept playing. I finally dismissed the dialogs and it all kept playing. Another 10 minutes goes by and I get another invalid pointer operation message. This time I dismiss it and immediately notice I can no longer access the "load drummers" drop down list, though other windows like "options" will open.

Starting/stopping reaper, I still can't get the drummer import drop down list to show. though it all still plays.

Close/restart reaper and it's all back to normal.

I'd like to buy jamstix, but I don't want to be troubleshooting it.

thanks!

I was getting those invalid pointer error messages before 2.1 of Jamstix I think...

Are you sure you upgraded to 2.14 properly.

When I first upgraded I didn't realise I had 2 copies of the dll on my HDD and when I was updating I was overwriting the one that my host was not looking at so Jamstix the older dll was still being loaded...

What is the version number in the Jamstix GUI?

I don't think I've t had any of those errors since updating to 2.14 properly...

Left it all open and running for the last 18 hrs. got home and started to play with settings in jamstix and after a few minutes I got a:

"reaper has encountered a problem and needs to close".

Anyone from rayzoon want to comment on ideas? I'd like to buy the product, but only after seeing it run stable.

thanks !!

Please replicate the errors and then close REAPER and immediately send me the rxdlog.txt file from the Jamstix 2 demo folder for review.
