Hi!
By a coincidence I found a link on KvR where a guy made a quite cool song with Jamstix. It was influenced by breakbeat (the drums) and I liked it a lot. Now - I'm doing a lot of electronic music. Not the ordinary boring trance stuff - but more... hm. I hesitate to use the word intelligent, but in a way it is.
What can Jamstix do for me? Anyone using it for electronic music styles? What's your take on it? |

Since no user has commented yet, I'll give you my take:
Jamstix 2 XL has a variety of electronic kits as well as hybrid kits (electronic+acoustic) that can be used for anything from classic trance to complex modern eclectic stuff. The advantage of JS2 is the brain as you can use breakbeat styles, the E-Kustom style and even classic acoustic styles to achieve a huge range of grooves and the accent and fill system helps you get complexity and variability with great ease. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| Ok. Bought it. This is the first time I buy anything without actually trying it - I hope the UI isn't too confusing. But the demos I've listened to are indeed convincing. |

Just a few impressions, after just playing with it for a few hours.
Sounds very good. There is lots of really interesting vibes in there - although I can't yet tell most of the drummers apart (well except for Machine and Animal - or course).
Just one little detail - is it possible to store the actual library sounds on another drive? It's not essential. I've got space enough. But I usually have all my libraries on a external drive.
One thing I really look forward to is to hook it up with other sound sources - like drum machines and such. I guess that's not a big deal to do, but what's the best way of doing it? By MIDI out? |

You can move the 'data' folder of the Jamstix 2 folder to another drive. Next time JS2 starts it will ask for the new location and that's it.
Driving 3rd part modules can be done two ways:
a) Subhost. If your module is listed in the JS2 kit tree then use that to egt started. It will load the module into JS2 and initialize it. You can always change the modules settings with the EDIT button in the kit window.
b) MIDI Out. Route the MIDI output of JS2 to the MIDI input of the module. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
