what is the easiest way to check which kits (packs) I have already installed?

Look in the 'sample' (JS1) and/or 'sounds' (JS2) folder. The sounds of each Pak have markers in their names.

DP1 - DrumPak #1
DP2 - DrumPak #2
BP or JP - BrushPak
ePak - ePak
MP - MetalPak

If you have 'Snare - 12x5 Little Squealer...' files then SnarePak is installed.
