I've been playing around with the Jamstix demo and think it's an awesome product, especially for Rock oder Hard Rock. However, I'd love to play my good ol' Metal riffs or Thrash riffs. Jamstix finds the rhythm quite well, but the groove isn't right. It just doesn't feel right. Is this because Heavy Metal is too special and not in the main focus of Jamstix' development? Or can I tune Jamstix with its slider and just haven't found the right way? Smile

Could you send us an example (project or MP3) to support @rayzoon.com?

nope Smile
I'm talking about syncopation and shifting accents, which is often used in Thrash Metal. That's something completely different from standard Rock rhythms.

Syncopation is used as a rubber term these days for anything that is not on a an eight grid. Could you elaborate?

I think I know what you mean with 'shifting accents'. I'd do that in Jamstix by alternating a rhythm pair (or even 3) in the arranger.

Again, any sample MP3 would be greatly appreciated.

I threw something together real quick. I didn't know the BPM so it isn't perfectly matching timingwise but it should give you an idea.

This is Jamstix with BFD and your guitar riff. Sample 1 is an unedited free jam. Sample 2 is the same but I made a variation of the free jam rhythm and then quickly alternated the two rhythms in the arranger to get a more complex 2-bar rhythm with 'shifting accents' (I hope).

Sample 1
Sample 2

Thanks, Zauni! So you used the arranger to fine tune the pattern for sample 2, is that correct? It sounds good and seems to be a lot easier than programming patterns from scratch Smile

That's correct, I use that technique a lot in my own songs and it is A LOT faster than hand-programming because once you get the hang of the rhythm editor you can get results in no time since it always applies its human touch whatever you do.

I often use a library rhythm and modify it to match the accents of the music, like in your case the heavy beats of the guitar in the second bar.

As with all things, the technique is the key. I get songs from people made with Jamstix and I go "How'd they do that?"...
