Hi,
Let's say I have a part that is 4 bars long. Each of the 4 bars in the part is very distinct from the other, hence the need for 4 core bars.
Now, let's say I want the whole section to be 7 bars only. I find that my song works better with such an arrangement. But how do I do that?
Of course I could break the parts into smaller sections but I will quickly run into the 18 part limit doing it that way.
Suggestion:
Instead of for each part having "Part Length" and "Part Repetitions", how about "Part Length" and "Total Length"? This way I can enter 7 into "Total Length" and the part will repeat until it reaches that many bars.

Your's is not the typical situation. Most people need simple integer repetitions and think in repetitions so changing bar length to a total number would be cumbersome for them. We'll see what we can do... _________________ Ralph Zeuner

While BitFlipper's example may not be common, it would be nice to be able to address those parts where an extra one or two bars occur (or in his example, three). After thinking about it I like his suggestion.
Ralph, if you're worried about how some users would react, you could make it optional. Total number of bars Vs. number of repetitions. I can imagine it might cause problems going back and forth between the options, but if people have a preference they could choose before they start working on a given song. Believe it or not, I kind of prefer the total bars per section idea, even for sections that don't have a weird number of bars - it's more in keeping with the way I think of song sections. Just my $.02. _________________ Rock softly and carry a big stick. Wait, what am I saying? Don't Rock softly. - Rock Churchill |

Hi, I just bought Jamstix yesterday and so far I am really pleased with it. It is very easy to work with and suits my needs as a guitarist too lazy to program my drums from scratch perfectly.
The first thing I did was load in one of my latest songs into reaper and add some Jamstix magic to it. Halfway through the song I ran into the above mentioned situation mentioned above. I was at a part of the song where I were using 8 bar loops because that way fills were automatically added the right places and I didn't need to think anymore about that. However, at the end of that part I had an extra four bars before transitioning to verse two.
I fixed the issue by adding a small part, so it was really no problem for me in this situation. Especially since I only had one of these situations in this song. I do understand where the original poster is coming from, though. I think I would prefer having the total amount of bars listed as well, instead of the number of loop repeats.
Thanks you for an amazing product. |
