Searching through forum messages for "undo" brings up a lot of post from people begging for an undo (and redo) function. Every time a response is posted along the lines of "we are thinking about that" or "we will do that in a future release". But, in some cases it has been year(s) since some of those posts.

When will we get this sorely missed feature? I really feel limited in exploring because I always have the feeling I am going to screw something up without being able to get back to the previous state.

On a side note, the other missing feature: More than 18 parts.

Sorry to sound so angry but I just lost an important part because I accidentally did something that caused a recomposition and now I am trying to get back to that state. Very annoying.

I can't think of a VST that supports undo... I use Sonar and whenever I do something in a softsynth or whatever and press Undo, the last Sonar action is undone and not whatever I changed in the softsynth.

I'd like an undo too, but apparently this is hard to get done...?

Yes, that has happened to me too sometimes. Very annoying indeed. Before I try something wild in JS2 I simply save the song... but sometimes you do something wild by accident...

As an example (ok, it is not strictly a VST), in Sonar when you use V-Vocal, you can undo/redo operations there. It is possible that true VSTs might not have access to Ctrl-z or Ctrl-y keypresses, but that does not mean they can't have undo/redo buttons somewhere in their UIs. In that case there is no technical reason why undo/redo cannot be implemented.

I think there is a difference between Jamstix 2 and most other VSTs, in that Jamstix 2 offers a lot of complex functionality. I mean, it is an embedded sequencer, so just because most other VSTs don't offer undo/redo, does not mean that the feature is not warranted in Jamstix 2. Especially since Jamstix 2 relies a lot on trial-and-error type operations where it completely blows away its previous state (recomposing bars/sections, etc). You better hope you end up with better results than the previous one.

Anyway, I love Jamstix 2 and I think Rayzoon did an excellent job with it. Unfortunately I think from their pov an undo/redo operation is low on the priority list. But from an end user pov I think it is a higher priority.

We are working on UNDO/REDO and will release it as soon as it is ready. I know that isn't a specific date but I can assure you it is not on the backburner.
