This may already exist and I just don't know about it, but is there a MIDI import tool for JS2?

I think it would be handy to have tool that can import a a whole bunch of MIDI files at a time. It should automatically name the file that's imported to the same name it already has, just change the file extension.

Is there a way to have JS2 import a whole MIDI song and then have JS2 'groove' it up?

Also, when trying to save a part, shouldn't it automatically use the name that's in the bar?

Currently it comes up blank and a person has to type the name in. Not a big deal, but JS2 rocks and you don't want anything wimpy in the middle of all that cool stuff, do you? Cool

That's a great question by bamim2: Is there a way to have JS2 import a whole MIDI song and then have JS2 'groove' it up?

I guess I'll have to try to do some experimenting (and 2.1.0 manual reading!) to see if that's possible.

I have a number of songs with what I call "place-holder" static drum rhythms that could use a touch of realism.

The closest I've gotten to this is to use the "Import Style" strategy: Use the Style (for a JS2 Part) called "Import", and point JS2 to a one-bar MIDI file of your groove. JS2 can then "elaborate" on that MIDI bar during the entire Part.

Then, you just have to use a different MIDI bar as the basis of additional JS2 Parts...

Mark has pointed out the solution. Use the 'Import Style' to 'groove up' your MID files. They can even be multi-bar grooves.

You can also mix MID files with JS2 styles by adding a 'Groove Importer' to a style using the brain menu.

Thank you.

Is there a tool or another way to import mulitple MIDI files rather than do them one at a time via the import feature in Parts?

I'm still learning JS2, but it seems like it would be very helpful to import a bunch of MIDI files and have them be available as Parts. I'm sure it would be quite simple to make such a tool since it's already being done within JS2. You could even just allow the import feature to grab more than one file at a time.

You have the Part gizmo reading Groove Monkee and other styles of MIDI files during the import. How about importing Linplug's RMIV .mi4 files too?
