For those interested, I started playing around with some ideas for a new skin, a bit more techno oriented. The included screen shot shows a very first orientation of these ideas. It is mainly to see if such a skin would be possible and actually usable. This will need a lot of work (knobs, buttons, layout, etc), and might even require some enhanced (transparent) skinning features, so don't expect anything soon. But I thought just share it anyway.
Take care,
Lucky

| Must be the most promising skin I have seen so far. And I am not a techno guy. So perhaps I would just like something less artistic around the transport controls. Also some gridlines in the bar window. Just enough that you can see where you are. |

Thanks and noted, see the new screen shot with faint vertical divider lines in the bar window. Also showing the (my?) new hole in the brain and some more ideas (...for those wondering, I stripped some brain functions to show the hole after the beat was created...).
Man, you can spend weeks tweaking all the shadows, glows and other 3D effects! Let alone all the transparency issues. Futhermore the hit symbols need to be adjusted for the gradient shading in the bar window...
Well, I need to leave it like this for the coming week due to other commitments. By the way, I'm also working on another skin, which is more in a retro style.

Great job Lucky ! May be the best Jamstix GUI I've see !
Some regrets about the pink color and sliders design....
For the knobs you can looking for KNOBMAN at KVR forum, a very nice and useful tool ....
You're on the right way : it's clear, readable, modern and sharp ! |

Thanks for the kind words. Don't worry about the sliders...yet... they come straight from the Nihilistic skin and are there just for reference.
I actually used KNOBMAN for the Nihilistic skin, to creating the rotating marker of the knob, very nice app indeed, Photoshop actions can be.... frustrating? |
