I had a good JS2 workout at the weekend and got some good results but still find there are a few things in the interface that strike me as slightly disconnected or counter-intuitive. None of these affect the functionality as such (which is fantastic and constantly improving Cool ), and I'm sure with time I'll get used to them. That said, I think these are examples of small things things that reduce 'usability' and add to the learning curve for new users.

1. On the song sheet, there are check-boxes for automatic fills in the order R->T. In the fill generator the 'length' controls for the two fill types are in the order T->R (the R->T seems more intuitive to me).

2. Fill Generator: there is a 'Simple' control to make fills simpler as it is 'turned up'. This just feels 'wrong' - my brain wants it be called Complex and work the other way round i.e. 'low' values = simple, 'high' values = complex (but other brains may differ...)

3. Recompose: effectively has 2 buttons, the 'bar' toggle and the actual 'recompose' button. This is probably down to my incompetence, but I have accidently recomposed a part several times when I meant to recompose a bar because I forgot to check the 'bar' toggle. An alternative might be to have seperate 'recompose part' and 'recompose bar' buttons - still only 2, but only ever takes 1 click and more 'idiot-proof'? (The 'part / bar' toggle also seems to have been a cause of confusion to a number of new posters on this forum...)

4. Timeline: when I bin or recompose a bar, it moves that bar to first position in the timeline, when 9 times out of 10 I don't want it to - I'd rather the timeline stayed where it was.

5. Select Drummer: I can use up / down keyboard arrows to move through the list but the description doesn't follow the highlighted drummer unless I select them with the the mouse.

6. Select Kit: The 'tree-view' of kits has mappings for many popular sub-hosted VSTs. It's obviously a great feature for those that use them, but I don't have any of them (and am unlikely to buy any soon, given the quality of the recent drumpacks Cool ) so to me it's just 'visual noise' Could there be a 'filter' of some kind to hide them, or even put them all into a single 'sub-hosts' branch of the tree so they can be collapsed by those that aren't interested?

As I said, none of this actually changes what you can do, but if any of these could be built in to future updates they would help me to do it more easily... Rolling Eyes

I've gotta second this one.

All duly noted. #4 is already fixed in current 2.2.1 final release.

For #6, I created a subfolder in ...VstPlugins\jamstix2\data\kits called 'Not Installed' and moved the kits I'll never own or never use there.

I still have them if I ever need them and it sure makes the list smaller.
