Hey, Ralph -- Just curious. What are the internal differences between inputing audio to Jamstix and inputing midi? Does Jamstix use more info when "translating" midi? It seems that changes in audio input (particularly "volume") produces a more immediate response than changes in midi input: is this my imagination, is it possibly my Celeron unable to process quickly enough, any thoughts?
BTW, Jamstix is fantastic... I've lost many, many, hours playing with it. (Look up and it's 3 AM...)

Hi Terry, thanks for your kind words!
The difference between MIDI and Audio jamming is the fact that Jamstix can perform harmonic analysis on the MIDI input but not the audio input. This is used to match specific bars of MIDI with rhythm slots in Jamstix. It is also used by the jam habits to add instant hits and other variations.
The reaction to input velocity is controlled by various elements, such as audio input smoothing (bottom-right) and the input velocity map in the mappings tab. Computer speed is not a factor but latency can be.

Ooops. One more question. Do "jam habits" only affect midi input, then, or do some of them, for instance "suppress side stick on low velocity" work with audio input as well?

Habits that are only velocity/volume-based will work with audio as well as MIDI.
