My understanding is that I don't need to buy the JS2 expansion packs, if I already have all the JS1 expansion packs, but all the Quickstart songs use the JS2 mappings, so I get '25 sounds missing' if I try to use quickstart. Is there a fix for this / am i missing something?

That is weird. Did you also install the separate JS2 drumkit? Maybe that is your problem.

Yes, sounds like you didn't install the JS2 stock kit.
