|
|
I have a simple 2 part live loops project which both parts have the same imported JS1 rhythme and one has the drummer silent attached and the other one the drummer Carter.
Sometimes when going backwards and forwards between the parts, and/or setting the cursor in Cubase on different bars while playing, JS2 stops playing a particular drumsound. In this case it always mutes the kick, but it still shows and creates these notes! Stopping and starting the song again doesn't solve it. Switching live loops off and restarting the song does.
It seems to happen often while repositioning the cursor or when using live loops in the regular way. Is it Carter's fault?!
Update on the this issue: It happens quite often, now I also notice that it sometimes only happens for the Carter part and not for the silent drummer part.
Furthermore I noticed for the above mentioned project a trigger issue when the Cubase cursor (or locator) is greater than the total numer of bars in JS2 . Again I have the above 2 mentioned parts:
* the first part has 4 bars with 100 reps (and repetition fills)
* the second part has 1 bar with 100 reps (and transition fills)
When I start with the Cubase locator on the first bar, the switching between the parts via live loops seem to work correctly: a trigger for the first part is executed after the full 4 bars; a trigger for the second part is done after the end of that particular one bar.
But when I start with the Cubase locator on a bar that is higher than 500 (e.g. the total number of bars of the two parts together) the switching between the parts is always done immediate after finishing of the currently playing bar that received the trigger (so always after 1 bar).
Now this could be an academic issue as you would normally not start the project from a position which has not been explicitly defined within JS. But maybe not
Update on the second issue: I changed the second part to 1 bar and 400 reps and now I have the same behaviour when starting Cubase at bar nr 500. |

To add to the second issue, which might help in finding the issue:
I created 2 exactly similar parts with equal nr of reps, but one has 4 bars and one has 1 bar, and live loops enabled. If the first part is the one with 4 bars and you start the song then the switching works correctly.
But if the first part is the one that is based on only 1 bar, then the switching always occures after 1 bar, e.g. at the end of the current bar that received the trigger!
By the way: I kind of like this bug actually
As long as the first part has only 1 bar, all other parts that have more bars with cool repetition fills will switch also after one bar. In this way you can resync JS2 with where the musicians are during the jam. I know it should be the other way round, but sometimes during a free jam I get lost....

To add to the first problem, and I hope I am not making things overly complicated now, but I get the impression that the problem of the kick disappearing might be related to Carter.
I just discovered that there is a setting called Reduction. I get the impression, though I am not sure, that this feature (maybe due to the combination with live loops) is causing the kick to completely disappear. |

| Too bad, the first issue is not related to the Reduction switch. I had it disabled during a test, but still after a few part switching I lost the kick. |
