Is it possible to create a Jamstx drum kit from scratch? i.e. I have a set of samples that it would be more convenient to make native within Jamstix rather than sub-host another DLL.

Jamstix 2 does not support user samples. You need to use a DLL to run your samples, such as sfz or Battery.
