If I have JS2 playing on an instrument track in Cubase 4, shouldn't I be able to record the MIDI data on that track simply by recording? The manual (p.16) seems to say that I can do this, but doesn't give details.

Can someone give a brief step by step on how to do this?

Also, BTW, the newest hotfix seems to now allow complete Battery 3 kits to be used with one click. Thank you for this. Much easier.

Cheers

Hi berfab

You need a second midi track with JS2 as midi in, then hit record and that track should record what JS2 has played.
You can also just drag "Song" in JS2 to a new Cubase midi track, and you will have what JS2 has just played through.

I hope that makes sense.

regards

Thanks-
I'll try that and let you know how I do.

Thanks for the tip.

O.K.

I finally got it to record MIDI files in Cubase 4. But I couldn't do it when JS2 was in an 'instrument' track. Here's what I did:

In the DEVICES tab, go to the Instrument Rack and open it up.

Choose JS2 in one of the Rack slots. Cubase 4 will then automatically ask if you need to open a MIDI track for the instrument. Say 'yes.'

On the left side of your newly created MIDI track, above the volume slider, there will be a slot for MIDI in. Make sure JS2 is in that slot. Once it is, you should be all set to record.

When you hit record for that track, you should hear the JS2 beat, and see the MIDI data being recorded on the track.

If others have a different method for doing this, I'd love to hear it.

Meantime, thanks all for your help and patience.

Cheers
