Unclear power knob behaviour with jam with audio

When jamming with audio the Power Knob jumps to max and then decreases slowly to the minimum level in the course of 1 to 2 bars. Then it jumps back up again. But my loudness of playing is about similar all the time, and when I look at the audioM8 behaviour it fluctuates accordingly.

I can't remember seeing this before JS 2.0.18 in Cubase SL. Should it be like this? I have a compressed Input Velocity set. Is this causing this behaviour?
