In JS1 you can choose midiout and then choose the Drummap and it´ll
play the plugin I want without loading it in JS.
In JS2 when I choose a drummap I have to choose a dll (plugin) to load
in JS2. Is it possible to play like in JS1? Not loading the plugin inside JS?
Is there any advantage of loading it in JS instead of opening it in the chain after JS? (in REAPER you can do that very well...)

Thanks

Jony

Go the mixer and check 'MIDI Out Only' and it will work just as in JS1. You can still load a plugin kit to get the the right key layout but it won't load the DLL.

With both JS1 and JS2 I have set up a midi track in Cubase. Then I route Jamstix as input to that midi track and Drumkit from Hell Superior (DFHS) as output.

This way DFHS plays as an instrument in Cubase and I can add all my effects to the relevant kit parts in Cubase as usual (Jamstix or no Jamstix). If I wish I can also record the output from Jamstix, but that is hardly necessary anymore. Now you can just drag and drop the whole song from Jamstix to a midi track.

As mentioned by Ralph you can still load the appropriate drumkit (e.g. DHFS) in Jamstix to get the correct midi notes for your drumkit (if it is not GM notes). Alternatively you can use GM output from Jamstix and then use a drummap in your sequencer to convert to your drum sampler.

I have found things a little harder in Sonar 6 which I hardly use anymore. A problem with Sonar has been that you could not route Jamstix as input to a midi track. Not sure if this hasn't been fixed, though.

That actually does work now with Sonar.
