Ralph,or anyone who can give a clue on how to do this right,
I have a lot of old Midi songs i made with a Soundblaster live card,..now when i open Sonar and play them Midi drums through JS,the drums doesnt sound rigth,..most of them make no sense at all,
What is the best and fastest way to have then as closer as possible to my original intent when i had programed the drums using the SB drum sounds?
i have made them all in GM mode, but now i set JS to mute its brain so it doesnt change the mood, but its realy not usable,
Any thoughts?
Thanks! |

| Make sure that MAP GM INPUT is checked in the mapping tab. |

| I understand when i change drum module(from SB to JS) the drum kit will always sound different, but i just need it to be similar,so i can work around after that, but its to far from original to begin with,. |

Look at the MIDI data of your tracks(s) and make sure that the keys in the mapping tab for each sound used match that data. Change them as necessary. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

i understand what you´re saying, but lets say when i have a maracas and tambourine in SB doing some beats, now it will be too far from utilizable now with JS,..it sounds way out of my first intention when i first made that beat to the song,..sound too different now with JS,..(althought i believe JS has the more natural, real life sounds for those instruments,)
i think what happens is the drum kit sounds i´m used to hear those songs, are so much in memory, that now i listen to them with JS and it feels all different,..
Any sugestion, apart from do and edit my own library of sounds for JS to match close?
That i could do,..but i have dozens of songs made with that Sb,..any simpler way to get me start?
Thanks! |

I'd tweak the mapping to fit the song, such as mapping the Maracas to a shaker etc. Then I'd save that mapping and use it for those GM songs as default.
With Jamstix 2 you could do this: take LiveSynth or any other soundfont player, load it into Jamstix and load the SB font you are used to into it. Make sure all key mappings are right. The drums should now sound like they used to. Now go and take specific sounds (like kick, snare and hihat) and set them to JS2 sounds to improve quality. You now have a mix of old and new which may be more to your liking since you are so used to the old sounds. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
