I'm probably going to pickup another host for recording. Currently I am using ableton, but the midi interface (which I sometimes want to use) is horrid and it just isn't much of a mastering tool - though I love Ableton for workflow - type issues.

So my question is: What host is the best for a combination of ease of use and general features in compatibility with JS2?

A related question, Ralph what host has been the least buggy in JS2 Beta?

My perfect host is C4, several others in the beta team are using Cubase, too.
JS2 integration is flawless imho and the features are great.
That said, there sure are alternatives, and afaik JS2 will not stop you using any of them.
And, knowing Ralph, if you should have a problem with some exotic host he'll do whatever is needed to get you running asap. So far he's been pretty successful ... Cool
Cheers,
Rhino

Thanks, Rhino,

I have Cubase LE that came bundled with my last stompbox. I'll probably start off with that and wait until I miss the features of the expensive version.

Hi Trevor!

"Best" host is always a bit dependent on personal preferences I think.

ATM I use Cubase, Ableton Live and Reaper, each one for different things.

Cubase is without any doubt the most mature and complete sequencer.
If you´re into midi and midi editing you can´t do better than Cubase.
On the audio side with audio manipulation, quick creation of alternative arrangements and time stretching this is where Ableton Live really shines (but you better forgt it midi-wise).
Reaper is an upcoming strong contender (of Cubase mainly) with a different workflow.
You can try it out thoroughly cause it´s uncrippled unexpiring shareware. When you decide to license it, it´s a steal for the price.
