Hello.
I just bought Toontracks EZdrummer, and i would like Jamstix to control it(and EZ to control Jamstix). The simplest way is - i guess - to make Jamstix control an external VST in the "mappings" tab. If i do that, Jamstix says "to few outputs" in an error message.
EZ has eight outputs, while Jamstix has four, but can i double the outputs in Jamstix, so both VST's are even?
And is this method the best? Or does Jamstix/EZ sound better if i load an EZdrummer mapping?
Thanking you in advance
Christian

Jamstix has up to 16 outputs...go to the mapping tab, and in the "sounds panel" you can select the number of outputs you want (up to 16)...Check page 47 of the jamstix manual for more info

Allright then. Now it is playing. Untill i got EZdrummer, Jamstix has been the only drum module i have used for a long time, so i am quite new to this:
1-when i load samples/kits on EZ, should i use the four green("Jamstix-looking") buttons in the buttom of the window with EZ?
2-When i change samples on the EZ, i can't really hear what happens. I can hear a EZ kit being played(by Jamsitx) but i can't work out which kit.
3-I guess i just need to find what to do, when i want jamstix to control another VST. Is there an article covering this?

No, just use EZDrummer inside of Jamstix as you would outside of it. Use the kit graphics (and menus) of EZD to load kits or change sounds.

It plays whatever you have selected on each sound in EZD. Just look at each drum/cymbal in EZD to see what it uses.

Right, then. I just move the switch in the "mappings" tab to "external VST" and locate the .dll file of the desired VST?
How about the key mapping? Can Jamstix follow the mappings of the EZ drummer's drumkits? Or do i have to make a special mapping for each EZ drumkit?
And the velocity layers of the EZ kits are probably not the same as the kits of Jamstix. Can i compensate for that difference?
I ask because it sounds a bit funny, when i make Jamstix play an EZ drummer kit, i think.

Instead of doing the 'External VSTi' switch, just click 'Load' and select an EZDrummer mapping that already comes with Jamstix. This will give you the EZD key mapping. You can then change kits/sounds as needed in the EZD GUI and, if you wish to, save the whole thing as a new mapping.

If any velocities need adjusting, use the velocity map of the sounds in the mapping tab.

So i first select a mapping, and then i select a drum module?
An EZ drummer mapping, that comes with Jamstix? Which one is that? What is the name of that in Jamstix' list of mappings? I have seen mappings for the Superior drum module. But that may work as well?
By the way, can i make a subfolder in the mapping list and call it EZdrummer kits/Toontrack kits?

No, the module is already defined in the mapping. All you have to do is select a mapping from the load list that starts with 'EZDrummer...'. That's it. Jamstix will load EZDrummer into itself, load a preset kit into EZD, set the key mappings to match EZD and so forth.

If you do not see any EZDrummer mappings, make sure you have version 1.81 (ABOUT tab) and update if needed.

You cannot create subfolders in the mapping list in Jamstix 1 (but you will be able to in Jamstix 2)
