Don't get me wrong. It is a great program.

But I moved over to a Mac recently, and so now I'm stuck with Jamstix. I don't want to use Windows, I like OSX. So Jamstix is useless to me. The money that is tied up in owning jamstix could go towards buying something that I could use.

It just sucks that companies feel that it is right to lock you into an agreement with software. It really sucks.

You chose to accept the terms of the agreement, why are you crying now, you made the choice to change, accept it and move on. I am sure you bought other programs that are not mac as well.

I totally disagree.

Of course, before you purchased Jamstix, you were aware of this public statement by Rayzoon:

"LICENSE TRANSFER
All RAYZOON software licenses are non-transferrable as outlined in their accompanying EULAs. You may not sell or share your license with anyone else. Please note that this restriction is reflected in a lower price for RAYZOON licenses than would be the case for transferrable licenses."

The third sentence really is the killer. Plenty of Jamstix users would happily have paid twice what they were asked for the program, but the company took a view towards providing it at the lowest possible price - and that meant a non-transferable licence. Since relatively few computer users change their platform, it's not something that would affect many.

Come on now, you bought Jamstix, then you made the decision to buy a Mac. You should have realised that the latter was going to give you various headaches and additional costs in the software department.

I agree with Robomusic. Stop moaning and just move on.

From the developer's standpoint, they have to make sure people aren't just going to buy, then "return" the product. So how do they do that?

1) Dongles
2) Hardware activation
3) No returns/transfers

Which would you prefer? Which do you think is the cheapest to implement?

If I were you, hang on to it. Keep it in your toolbox. Route the outputs to audio tracks and use those audio tracks on the Mac.

Me too! But the price of Jamstix is excellent and I like that a developer is open about the no resale policy.

I absolutely agree... Since moving over to the mac Jamstix hasn't seen too much use, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that a Mac version will be out or I can figure out a way get it working through a vmware/parallels session.
