|
|
Hi,
In reading the info, it 'seems' that Jamstic can be controlled via e-drums, a keyboard, etc...
I know that Jamstix can simply 'play along' with your music to create drums parts on the fly, but I'm 'specifically' interested in playing my Yamaha e-drum set, and using a drum software as my sound source.
Thanks, Steve |

Jamstix can be used as a 'dumb' sound module as well. Just use it in 'Manual Jam' with 'Mute Brain' checked. It will then play sounds based on received MIDI input as any other drum sampler. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Thanks Ralph for the confirmation,
Dumb drummers, dumb sound module
But will Jamstix allow for played real-time edrum Cymbal Chokes, and what about good Hi-Hat articulation?
In addition I have, like many edrummers, an extensive edrum kit with multiple modules so I can make use of extra trigger pads for a dual-kick, dual Hi-Hat set-up, 4 to 5 toms, and sevral Cymbal Ride & Crash pads...
How many drums & cymbals can I assign at once to accomodate an extensive edrum kit?
Thanks, Steve |

Jamstix is not currently designed for full e-Drum support, this means no choked cymbals and no hihat CC support. We are looking into adding these things into Jamstix 2 next year.

Jamstix supports assignment of 30+ sounds. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

this is an old thread, but since there have been updates since this message and also Jamstix 2 on the horizon..thought I'd ask if there was any further info on E-drum support..
somewhat related, and not in product info that I can find, how many velocity levels approx. are there in most of the samples paks? I was playing NS_Kit7free the other day and could not believe how much cooler and expressive it is to play good ride and cymbal samples!
Thanks |

Extensive eDrum support is still somewhat on the back burner but we are implementing CC4 (hihat openess) control in Jamstix 2. It's a pleasure to play on an e-set.
The Jamstix sounds use varying degress of velocity layers and alternate hits. Just to clarify: alternate hits means that there is more than one sample for a sound at the same velocity, which are randomly selected by the engine. This gives realistic sound variances even if the velocity stays the same.
Example: the stick hit on the Jamstix 2 stock snare has six velocity layers and 2-3 alternate hits for each layer for a total of 18 separate samples. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| Thanks for the quick reply.. that arrangement sounds really good; provides a lot of variation and does Jamstix accept program change messages? I;ve only got a 1-zone ride so I have 'program change' programmed into the rimshot on the snare to allow me to switch between kits with cup and rim samples. I'm hoping to do the same with the jamstix sounds. |

No, that would fall under 'extensive' eDrum support
Also, program changes in JS2 are already used when it is in 'liveloop' mode to trigger parts. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
