| While in manual jam, In the arrangement view, I have the first bar muted. Second bar, first beat every time I hear an unwanted crash and Kick drum. Faders in the rhythm bar are all the way to the left in all panels. I have tried deleting and then reentering the bar. No-go. The pattern plays fine in subsequent bars. Using 1.81 in Ableton. |

Are the first and second bar on the same pattern (arranger row)? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Yes. I actually solved the problem, however, by resetting the first muted bar. Don't know why that worked, but it did.
BTW, another question while I have you.
I am playing an arrangement in manual jam. Is there a way to get percussion (shaker) into some of the arrangement without it playing throughout? I see the only way I can turn on the percussion selections is through the jam window so it plays throughout the song...
Thanks for helping.

There is a 'Mute Percussion' VST automation parameter that you can use to control percussion on/off in your host throughout the song. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Thanks, haven't gotten into VST automation on my host yet so that one is going to have to wait.
Meanwhile, here's a good one for you:
My song is 60 meausres long. In the arrangement view, however, there is several hundred bars of repeated patterns. I am not clear how this happened. I am sure I did not cut and paste that many measures -- at least not purposefully.
Anyway, I tried to delete a large number of bars and Jamstix deactivated! It said I was in some violation and then Windows crashed. I had to hard reboot and then Jamstix wouldn't start up again without my license key and activation code.
Meanwhile, I have the same problem. The song is several hundred measures long and I want to delete everything but the first sixty bars.
I live in Korea, so I often post at odd hours (your time). I have been trying to get a handle on Jamstix so you may get a bunch of support posts from me in the next week or two. I'll keep them to this thread if that's okay with you.
Thanks for your help. |

Please save your Jamstix state to a FXB file via 'Save Bank' in your host and send it to me just in case there is something odd in there.
As far as the bars go: there is no need to delete those measures. When your song ends after 60 bars, Jamstix will stop, too. If you need an ending, just right-click on the last bar you need in Jamstix and select and ending. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

In Ableton 6, I can "Save Live Set," "Save a Copy" "Collect all and Save".
I don't see a "save bank" option in my file menu, so I am not sure how to give you what you're requesting.

Incidentally, I just noticed that after my crash today (see above) JS reverted to 1.7.
A couple of days ago I had downloaded the latest update (1.81)and it's apparently gone, though all my custom files appear to be where they should be...have to check to make sure, though.
I guess JS doesn't like it at all if I try to delete a large amount of bars. |

It all sounds rather odd. I don't know of any mechanism that would allow an error in Jamstix to cause your actual hard drive files to magically revert to an older version. Sounds more like a restore to an older checkpoint or something like that. I recommend you run some system checks: check disk, memtest86 etc. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Other than losing 1.81 I have been running Windows flawlessly.
I forgot exactly what it said after it stopped running but there was a red message on the top of the GUI. I think it implied I was unlicensed. I can't remember the exact wording.
Anyway, everything seems to be running fine right now. I'm plugging away so I may have some more questions later.
Thanks.

A-ha!
Actually, I didn't lose 1.81. There are two jamstix icons in my VST folder. 1.7 and 1.81. I guess I thought that the new version would automatically overwrite 1.7. (Isn't that how it works)?
Anyway, I guess I want to safely remove 1.7 without losing any work. What should I do?
Thanks for your patience.

Send me a screenshot of the contents of your Jamstix folder so I can advise better. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Open your JS folder, press STRG + Print.
Then open MS Paint, press STRG + V (=paste) and save the screenshot under a new name, preferably as .jpg file.
This file you can send via email. |
