I've gotten into the practice of putting the same send on any track I want to feed Jamstix with audio and then on a different track, I put these filters in this order:

1. Return for the send from the other tracks,
2. Audio M8
3. Volume/Pan with the volume turned all the way off.

With this setup, I can control how much each of the various tracks drive the audio input for Jamstix. Sometimes what will make Jamstix come alive is to drive the bass track input a little harder, or the keys, or guitars, etc.

Anyone else setup this way?

I don't even bother with Midi jam anymore with this method - on the output of whatever synth/drum machine tracks I have, I just throw in a send.
