|
|
hi.
i've got Cubase SX 1 and Jamstix... and i'm still a newbie with both (new baby and job have been great procrastination factors). routing isn't second nature to me yet and i haven't figured this out though i'm sure it's simple:
how do i route/record just particular Jamstix drum elements (like kick or snare separately) so i can then process them, individually, in Cubase?
thanks kindly for the answer and no RTFM replies that they're more than happpy to dole out on most boards but not here.

You might get a better answer from a Cubase expert...
... but I would route the required drum to a separate output in Jamstix using the mapping tab and the "Output" slider. Then in Cubase solo the matching VSTi output from Jamstix. This will allow you to record just that one drum track.
The bigger question is, why do you need to record individual drums? If its only for processing, you can apply effects in real time. Just send the snare and kick to their own separate output in Jamstix. Then in cubase open the Jamstix VSTi output tracks that are automatically created when you start Jamstix. You can add different effects to each of the outputs.
I generally put cymbals and hi-hat on one output, toms on another, and kick and snare on the last two. I also turn off the ambience and compression completely (on the Jamstix Output tab) so that I can use my own VST plugins and have fine control over reverb and compression.
Ps. If you haven't got reverb or compression plugins try the Kjaerhusaudio Classic series.
Hope this helps,

In Cubase I'd have JS and BFD separately in the rack and drive BFD with a MIDI track (input=Jamstix output=BFD). You can then control each individual BFD output in Cubase. I would also use BFD mappings in JS with the MIDI-Out Only box checked for this model. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

You could also just dissolve the drums into different tracks in cubase after there recorded and keep what you need.
