Hello,
I have downloaded a demo version for trial.
Although I work with Cabuse as a recording device , I am not particullarrily good with computers.
I have installed the demo version as per the instructions ; I connect my keyboard to Cubase and have a visual incoming signal ;with the "out " of the channel to my soundcard I also have sound . So that is working .
I open a new 16 channel midi sequencer project and activate one channel. I open the VST instruments , see jamstix and click onward to "audio m8 ".
I set Audio M8 as output on the activated channel.
This is as far as I think getting it right.
Where am I doing wrong and / or what must I do to activate a jam session ?
Thanks in advance for you helping a newbe

Hi pierre
Add Jamstix to the VST instrument rack
You need one midi track for the keyboard/Piano or whatever instrument.
You need a second midi track for Jamstix, with the same input as the piano track, but jamstix selected in the output. You need to switch on the monitoring button/speaker icon on the Jamstix track
You don't need the audioM8 for midi, only for audio, ie guitar.
I hope this helps _________________ john-studio64

Hi John , here Pierre again.
From your reply I gathered that I do not necessarilly have to work in midi.
So I have opened a simple audio project to which my keyboard is connected.
When now I add jamstix audio M8 to the channel on which I would like to jam,the Audio M8 window with the audio input indicator appears and moves to the volume of my playing.
I still do not have any drumsound following the keyboard though.

Hi
I should have ask which version of Cubase you are running.
Slightly different aproach in earlier versions, so let me know.
I would recommend starting with Free Jam with Midi first.
I am not sure if you received a manual with the demo, if not you can download a PDF manual from the rayzoon site. _________________ john-studio64

SX3 ok .that is what I thought
Depending on which manual you have, there is a very good description about using Jamstix with Cubase SX on page 12 or 13.
On the Jam window, you can allocate which key on you keyboard to start Jamstix
Audio jam will only work with an audio input device _________________ john-studio64

Thanks again John.
I am ussualy using my keyboard as an audio instrument since I am not yet that familiar with activating things in midi.
They way I usually work is 1. recording a drums track from my keyboard oe other . 2. adding piano, gitar, bass, vocals and , as the need may be , strings , brass etc, etc,.
All this works fine in audio, so I do not use midi that much.
I 'll try your suggestions and let you know if it works

Sorry to bother you again John but I am not yet getting anywhere.
All works well until I open Devices / Vst Instruments. Amongst the effects like delay , Direct X etc. in the Vst Instruments Rack I see Jamstix. My mouse on "jamstix" creates an arrow to the right where audio M8 is.
No way I can activate something else like described in the manual pages 12 ,13.

Let's nail that one step down:
- open VST synth rack in Cubase (Devices->VST Instruments)
- click on a slot in the rack and a list opens with 'jamstix demo' in it, select that.
- Jamstix should now open its GUI _________________ Ralph Zeuner

In the VSTInstruments Rack I have " Jamstix " and when I put my mouse on that it opens a second tab to the right with audio M8 on it

Hi pierre
I think you are looking in the wrong area for jamstix.
In cubase, the top row of menu's- File, Edit, Project, Audio etc you come to "devices".
In that menu you will see "Vst Instruments.". that is where you select Jamstix.
If there are effects available there, something is wrong. There should not be AudioM8 there. _________________ john-studio64

Well indeed something must be wrong.
I deleted the 1st installation and started all over again.
Stil I have in the VST Instruments effects like Delay ,DirectX, etc.
And also jamstix Demo
When I go ther I can only go to audioM8

I think you are in the wrong place in Cubase. It sounds as if you are in the insert effects of an audio track, because that's where delay and DirectX are listed. You need to do this:
- Main Cubase menu: select Devices->VST Instruments (F11 shortcut IIRC)
- click on 'no instrument' in the first black slot of the synth rack
- a list opens up that starts with 'No instrument'
- in that list is 'jamstix demo', click it and Jamstix opens _________________ Ralph Zeuner

pierre
Do you have any other VST instruments loaded on your computer?
If you do, do they show up in the Devices/VST instrument list?
Most VST instrument have a file called typically jamstix.dll.
and they should be in a Folder called "VSTplugins" in the "CubaseSX3" folder.
Do a search on your computer for jamstix.dll, to see where it is _________________ john-studio64
