I've linked a project I've been working on for the past week. It's a groovin' metal track done with Jamstix.

I used Jamstix with BFD- added in the Andy Johns kit#5. The only thing I changed from kit#5 was the kick. Although kit5 has an awesome kick, I deferred back to the BFD DW kick drum because it had a bit more bottom.Since the bottom of this mix is pretty plump, I needed a kick to push through. I really love the tom sound on this kit, as well as the cymbals. There is a really strong ride being used during the verses that cuts through nicely.

Guitars are from POD/Bass was done through POD XTL as well. Mixed in Sonar VI PE. No CURSE words, I'm so proud of myself!!

Thanks Voltago....

It was a pretty simple mix. I opened BFD all in Sonar VI, then opened Jamstix. I did all of my proramming through Jamstix.

Within BFD- I opened the Andy Johns Kit#5, and used pretty standard mix settings within BFD. I replaced the kit5 kick with the DWkick from the BFD collection. I assigned all drum channel outs to an assigned drum bus. I added some compression and loudness maximizing to the bus with Ozone3. That seemed to really bring the punch out of the toms. Other than that, there is nothing else on the drums as far as the mix goes.

Jamstix was set to midi output only, and I did all arranging within the arranger. I dropped the funkiness and complexity down below 5%. I manually edited some of the stock Jamstix grooves, and that was it.

THanks for listening!
