hi. just joined. Obviouly everybody here is a fan of Jamstix, sounds very interesting. I have been relying on sound loops. I also don't use a sequencer but rather would either need to generate a wav file per drum part or feed the exported midi file to something that could for example I also use Bandstand which can generate the wav files. These are in turn fed to Adobe Audition as tracks.

I mention that because I need to make sure that Jamstix can fit with my work process. In my case I guess that means that I can use Jamstix independantly to generate the drum parts.

I'm also into Jazz/ World fusion beat and it would be very nice to check out how well Jamstix does with more intricate latin , afro-cuban and middle eastern grooves, the audio demos unfortunately basically demo back beat based grooves.

any feedback on any of the above is appreciated.

thanks in advance

Hi and welcome to the board,

You can use Jamstix with free (or very cheap) hosts to generate audio files, such as SAVIHost and MiniHost. Jamstix also has MIDI file export.

Currently, Jamstix is very rock/funk/pop focused. Try out the Jamstix demo, go to the rhythm tab, click 'Load' and then try a few key words, such as 'world' and 'latin' to see what's available today. Please note that the BrushPak expansion adds various jazz and swing rhythms to Jamstix.

Things on the world/exotic rhythm front will get much more exciting in Jamstix 2 (which is still several months away), which will have dedicated style modeling for african rhythms, latin rhythms and jazz rhythms.

Jamstix 2 sounds like it may be my "deal", along with these type of grooves, our stuff gets into using poly rhythms i.e. mixing of various time signatures, can Jamstixs do this well?

There is always one time signature but polyrhythms, as in having a repeated riff of another time sig layered on top of the dominant time sig, will be possible in Jamstix 2.

Sorry to resurrect a really old thread - but can you explain/point me too how to do poly rhythms in Jamstix?
