People who bought JS prior to 8/23/06 don't get a free upgrade to JS 2 and drumpak#1, but those who purchase after the date above do? I fail to see the fairness or logic of this. Or, am I totally missing something?

Jamstix 2 has an estimated release date of Feb 07.

Companies usually allow people who purchased version X a short time before the release of version X+1 to upgrade at no cost. In this case we use the cut-off date of 08/23, which is about 5 month (!) prior to the estimated release date. The usual courtesy time frame in the business is 2-3 months.

Ralph,
I know you're being more than fair with the "usual courtesy" time frame as you say for this practice, and this practice is the "norm" for most companies. I also realize this is an effective and very generous enticement for gaining new customers that are "on the fence" so to speak. However, let's look at the facts here. A "new" customer gets JS and a free upgrade to JS 2, plus drumpak #1 for $100.00 bucks, but an "old" loyal customer who may have paid the same amount only gets a discount when upgrading and no free drumpak #1. Please understand, I'm not looking for anything for free. All I'm saying is this whole thing needs to balance out between the "new" and "old" customers. As a customer who bought JS when it was initially introduced, I feel "left out in the cold" on this deal.

I understand what you are saying but I can't think of any company I ever bought from that did otherwise. Help me out with some examples!

Here's mine: If you bought Sonar 5 months ago you may now see the Cakewalk ads that say "Buy Sonar 5 now and get Sonar 6 free when it comes out". You are also 'left out in the cold' of that deal because otherwise all upgrades would have to be essentially free to all who bought previously!

Can you understand our reasoning?

Then there are those of us who bought just 6-days ago who will miss out also. That hurts too. Ouch!

How was this 8/23 date determined?

How much is this upgrade going to be, anyhow?

Ken, I've checked your records. You did indeed buy just 6 days before the cut-off so I've marked your license as eligible for the free JS2 upgrade as well. Hope this helps!

I think all loyal old owners should get the free drum pack if they upgrade to JS 2. This would be fair. A loyal old customer base is part of the reason you get new customers.

how 'bout 424 days before the cutoff? Very Happy my two cents is just that jamstix, as well as i'm sure all associated upgrades and products, are really from the most reasonably priced in the entire business, without a doubt-- for the quality and usefulness of product, not to mention best customer support, it's sooo worth it, and i for one will be happy to upgrade when the time comes, i hope many other "old loyal cutomers' feel the same

First, I want to say that Ralph and Co. are superior in customer support and top shelf in products. I also plan on getting Jamstix 2 whatever the cost.

1. FLStudio has lifetime free updates for online/download purchases.
2. If you buy Energy XT version 1, you will get version 2 at no charge.

as a old customer who also helps spread the word many times over ... i feel left in the cold ...

i do realize its a sales enticement for new comers as its very close to release date ...and its a good one for this purpose.

but it sure makes a old customer feel left out ...i to not expecting all to be free . only saying it doesnt feel so fair ..
