I am seriously considering Jamstix, and am currently trying out the demo, One thing I am not sure of is whether the random fills can be totally turned off? Sometimes I just want a straight beat.
Secondly, I assume the tracks can be saved and imported into a software recording application. It would be a MIDI track, correct? I would then have the ability to edit that track further if I wanted to eleiminate or modify some of the fills.
I am a bit new to this DAW thing for recoridng and such, and am trying to put together the most flexible environment. My recording software is Cakewalk Music Creator 3, that I am happy with so far. I am now concentrating on the drummimg part, as I do not have a live one available.

No problem. You can turn off the fills and remain very straight. Just turn the Fill Frequency slider completely to the left (in Jam tab)

I do have a couple more.
Is the only way to actually use Jamstix is as a VST plugin? Each time I start up Music Creator I need to load a MIDI track with the Jamstix plugin, and then it need to load the drums and stuff. Takes longer than I would like of course. I just want to know if this is normal and expected, or is there quicker ways to use the application?
And, must there be a MIDI or Audio track active for Jamstix to run? For example, even one MIDI note somewhere in a track, just so it has a tempo and song length to follow?
So far, I find this application rather interesting and I really hope my interest continues with it. I just want to make sure I understand its working before purchasing the non-demo.

Jamstix is always a VSTi plugin but there are various ways to accelerate the workflow.
a) Create a template project in your host with Jamstix loaded and ready to go. Whenever you start a new project use that template.
b) Use a simple host when you don't need a full host. Example: download the free SAVIHost (look it up on Google or kvraudio.com), copy its savihost.exe to the 'jamstix demo' folder and rename it to 'jamstix_demo.exe'. You now have a stand-alone Jamstix demo.

No, Jamstix can run in an empty project without any note. Tempo is determined by the host setting. Your host is based on Sonar (I believe) so it may not play an empty project unlike most other hosts. If that is the case, just add a dummy note to bar 1000 in a MIDI track or so to get your host to play. Or you can just use record.
