|
|
hi. i've got Cubase 1.0 and Jamstix 1.2 (i will upgrade Jamstix later).
here's my trouble:
when i'm in Manual mode, in the Rhythm screen trying to make a beat with semi-open hats (in the hihat combo box), it actually plays closed hats. selecting Closed hats produces NO sound. (selecting Open Hats plays open hats).
so i go to Mapping to check things out:
i make sure that Semi-Open hat is assinged to a Semi-Open sound. and when i Audition the Semi-Open hat, it actually plays the correct semi-open hat sounds. so the Audition works fine.
i max the volume, load different kits, restart my computer... no luck.
as an experiment, i create just a kick-snare beat and in Mapping i assign the kick, for example, to the Semi-Open sound and the Snare to the Open hihat. THIS WORKS.
so i can audition the right semi-open hat sound, and i can play it if it's mapped to a different drum, like a kick.
i imagine the problem is Cubase related. i don't think the internal Cubase drum map for the L7 (or whatever the default Cubase kit is) has a semi-open hat -- so is this the root of the problem?
i don't know enough about MIDI but i think i tried different mapping alternatives or output options in Cubase. (i think, i'm not at my DAW now and i'm not good with MIDI terms and concepts).
any suggestions?
thanks kindly.
