I use SX3 with Waves 5.0 plugins and if I have Jamstix in a project as a VSTi and add any Waves plugin (example IDR Mono or Enigma) as an insert and then try and open Jamstix interface Cubase will crash - ie. complete disappear from task manager - no message just vanishes.

If I load the plug in before adding Jamstix as a VSTi, Jamstix will get as far as loading Accents/Rythms and then Cubase will disappear again.

Even if I have Jamstix added as VSTi and then add and remove a waves plugin before opening the Jamstix interface the same thing occurs.

I have pre-ordered and if the final version still results in the same problem I will not be able to use Jamstix as all my projects have at least one Waves Plugin. I will be looking for a refund in this case - which will be a shame.

Can anyone else confirm whether they have the same problem - incase this is some configuration issue on my PC.

Ralph, if you do not have Waves plugins, you can download 30 day demo (www.waves.com via there download link) to see if you get same result with SX3.0.1.514 (latest release).

I have tried out Jamstix v1.0 and the Waves 5.0 / Jamstix conflict is still there.

I tried changing the Old-Host Behaviour setting in the Plugin-Information in Cubase and this did not make any difference. I also tried SX2.2 (latest version available) and the same problem occurs.

I believe from your email to me that you had used an earlier version of Waves, with SX2.2. Before I start formerly requesting a refund, can you see if you can reproduce the problem with Waves 5.0 (via demo).

This is what I do:

- Create new empty project
- Add mono audio track
- Add IDR Mono wave plug in to first insert of audio track, and select 20 bit dithering by clicking button in middle of plugin
- Open VST Instrument Panel
- Add Jamstix to first slot
- When Jamstix gets to end of Loading Rythms, Cubase will crash

I then rebooted and started again, did the same thing, but this time instead of loading Jamstix, I loaded Linplug RMIV, Halion and Virtual Guitarist, and Compakt and all loaded ok without any problem - ie. in each slot in one go.

If you can reproduce the problem and provide a fix then I am happy to continue with the product, but if not then unfortunately Jamstix is going to be very limited in its use as I will only be able to use it in projects that have no Waves effects - which is pretty much zero.

fyi sx 3.02 was released today. I wonder if it fixes anything. I also have sx 3.01. Wont be home until saturday to try jamstix with waves.

ok finally got to test. I am using Cubase SX 3.01, Windows XP SP2, 2 gig RAM, Dell 4600, RME Hammerfall, Waves 5.0, UAD card and Midex 8.

I just installed jamstic 1.01

My access violation problem (turning jamstix on and off is gone).

I also tried inserting an audio track, adding IDR Mono as an insert, changing to 20 bit and then loading Jamstix (with internal sounds)

Jamstix didn't crash SX.

I havent had to play it yet (need to sleep now!), but the act of installing, loading etc seems stable so far.

I would be happy to try any testing.

Waves also crashes Orion Plat. with AMD 3000+,Win ME .
PSP and endorphin work fine.
