Well, after debating back and fourth I fianlly purchased Jamstix today and with in 30 min I had an e-mail in my inbox giving all the info on how to get started. Great response time!!

It loaded up with no problem and I open a audio track in Cubase and tried out the free jam mode. Works pretty well and I think I need to learn about the different controls a bit so I get the drum pattern I am looking for. I am hoping to get Jamstix working with BFD later tonight. Can some point me in the right direction on how-to have Jamstix control the BFD sound in Cubase SX?

I am also looking forward to the "arrangement" screen as well.

Go to the mapping tab, click 'Load' and select any mapping with BFD in its name. You may wish to start with 'BFD Set 1'. Jamstix will ask you for the location of your BFD DLL one time and then remember the location.

The mappings cause Jamstix to load BFD into itself, initialize the saved kit configuration and adjust key mappings to reflect BFD layout. So you're up and running without doing anything else.

Thanks......

when I set up the mapping, then Jamstix will always remember to load BFD each time I run Jamstix as an VSTi?

Now, if I want to chage the kit type in BFD do I need to change anything in the mapping or do I just open BFD and change the kit type that way?

Thanks

No, it will only load BFD when you load the mapping or load a song that was saved while BFD was in Jamstix.

If you want to have a specific BFD mapping loaded whenever you load Jamstix in a new project, load that desired mapping and then save it as 'default' in the mapping tab. 'Default' is the mapping loaded when a new Jamstix is opened.

You just click 'Configure' in the Jamstix mapping tab to see the BFD GUI, make your changes there and then save the mapping in Jamstix.

The other way you can go is to insert BFD into its own VST instrument slot and route midi from JS to BFD.

Just pick a midi track and set it to:
Input: Jamstix
Output: BFD

In Jamstix on the mapping page check "Midi out only" and load a BFD mapping from the list of options.

This way BFD will have its usual configuration of outputs and you can route any midi track or source to it or use its own internal grooves.

This is how I work because I can use my BFD template projects where the BFD outputs are already routed to groups etc or try JS in any tune where I have BFD setup already.
