do I put jamstix in the path portion of preferences?

You need to have the jamstix.dll in your VST folder.

n-Track lets you specify more than 1 VST folder though so if you've just installed the dll into a "Jamstix" folder somewhere you can add that to your list of folders for n-Track to look for VST's in.

You can manage your VST folders int he effects window that pops up when you go to add an effect to a track
