|
|
What I'd like to mainly do is use the internal sounds of jamstix as audio input to my project. The LM-4 MK II is to house some samples that I'd like to include in my project, as Jamstix doesn't allow import of samples. I was just going to map one of Jamstix's drums to the sample in LM-4 MKII.
The problem I'm having is that I can't access the LM-4 MKII banks from Jamstix. They seem to load into my hard drive just fine and are playable manually when using LM-4 MKII as a stand-alone VST instrument. But, it doesn't seem to work when I access then through Jamstix.
Any ideas on that one please?
Thanks _________________ Alexis

What version of Jamstix are you running? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Let's identify the problem a bit more. What exactly happens when you operate LM4 in JS, trying to load and play your bank? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Thanks, Ralph.
Though away from my music currently, I believe I can probably remember the important parts.
I am able to choose the LM-4 MKII .dll in JS > Mapping just fine. The button to the right opens up the LM-4 MKII panel just fine too.
What it opens up however is an "empty" drum kit, with generic drum names (i.e., instead of names like "Hi-Hat", "Snare", etc., the drum kit just has names like "#1", "#2", etc. for each drum).
So I go to the "Load Bank" dropdown menu in the LM-4 MKII menu that opened up through JS. I can navigate to the bank I want. However, after I load the bank, instead of a new kit appearing in the drum kit that's displayed, and new kits being available to choose from in the LM-4 MKII dropdown menu, nothing changes. There still just the empty kit with generic drum names displayed, and empty kits with generic names are still the only ones available in the LM-4 MKII drop down menu.
When I open up the LM-4 MKII as a VST instrument directly through Cubase SX (i.e., not through JS), all works as it seems it should.
Thanks for your help troubleshooting yet another one Ralph ...

It's odd because I know several users that use LM4 within JS. Please search the forum for LM4 and try posting a message in a thread with LM4 users.
You can also use LM4 with JS with LM4 loaded outside of JS in the Cubase synth rack by adding a MIDI track with input=Jamstix and output=LM4. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

OK, thanks for all your help ...
Here is what I've figured out so far:
After I load the LM-4 MKII .dll in the Jamstix Mapping panel, when I bring up the "Configure" menu, I get an empty drum kit in the LM-4 MKII ... i.e. "Pad 1", "Pad 2", etc., instead of "Bass", "Snare".
I can't figure out a way to populate all those pads with sample sounds except laboriously 1 by 1 for each velocity/volume level in each pad. Painful!
I'd like to be able to build a drum kit all at once, by using Jamstix to load a whole LM-4 MKII Bank or Program/Instrument (as if I were accessing the LM-4 MKII directly through Cubase SX).
Is there any way to do that?

Here's the answer to my subject question:
http://rayzoon.com/v-web/bulletin/bb/viewtopic.php?t=153&highlight=lm4+lm4
The key thing for me was in andrew_k 's instruction #6:
6. Click the 'Load' button displayed beneath the LM4 to load either a bank or program into the LM4.
The red color and bold on the word beneath is my emphasis. "Every word is sacred" (sung to the tune of Monty Python's song in "The Meaning of Life").
It all works flawlessly from the JS point of view now, as one would expect!
Thanks to Ralph, and andrew_k. _________________ Alexis
