We are thinking about implementing some of the live-performance features planned for Jamstix 2 in a free maintenance release for Jamstix 1 because as it turns out more of you than we thought are interested in using Jamstix for live performances.
Here's the plan, let us know what you think!
Implement velocity control via MIDI CC
This would allow you to control the velocity of Jamstix with a foot pedal (continuous) or MIDI controller wheel. It will allow you to decouple your playing velocity from the Jamstix velocity and also give you more control confidence
Jamstix Live Loops
This would give you the ability to click on a bar in the arranger and make it the start of a 'live loop'. You would then assign the loop a name, a length and a trigger (MIDI note or program change).
You would have a live loop toggle on/off that can also be controlled via a MIDI note or program change.
When in live loop mode, Jamstix would play normally through your arrangement but when you hit the trigger for a live loop, Jamstix will jump to the start of that loop and keep playing it looped through its length until you hit another loop trigger or toggle live loops off.
This mechanism would allow you to define a song structure (vers, chorus, solo, intro etc.) as a sequence of live loops that you can either just play sequentially through or change ad-hoc during your live performance with foot switches or a MIDI keyboard. Since Jamstix stays in a live loop until triggered again, you would be able to play the chorus as many times as you want etc. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Live loops sounds like a realy cool feature, as these as you say could be setup in a song structure form and triggered live via a host of midi foot switches.
Nice 1

| Wow,another layer planned! I'm using the JAM playing to wav. audio tracks in Orion without M8,with the button on ,JAM WITH AUDIO,and I'm very pleased with the results.I turn the complexity and funkiness right down, down [sorry guy's] ......at last a drummer that will play quietly when I ask them to. |

what happens when you turn it off? where does it resume playing the arrangement.? from the point where it jumped from, or from the end of the defined loop, or ?
the feature sounds really useful. a superb addition to an already outstanding product. |

It would simply continue playing wherever it is sequentially through the arrangement. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

and i assume it would always finish the current bar before jumping to a loop point (so you could trigger the jump ahead of time but maintain the count...). |

Not only will it finish the current bar, it will also finish the current live loop so you can be in your "vers" and hit the "chorus" trigger at any time and still be assured that Jamstix will finish the vers first. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
