Here's a tricky one!
I know that the Jamstix hihats are very comprehensive and detailed.
There's a lot of options and dynamics available.
BFD has a lot of complex variations for hi-hat output as well
A BFD drum map includes:
Hat (open Tip)
Hat (open 3/4 Tip)
Hat (3/4 Shank)
Hat (Half Tip)
Hat (1/4 Tip)
Hat (1/4 shank)
Hat (closed Tip)
Hat (Closed Shank)
Hat Pedal
When I map midi output to BFD from Jamstix... the midi notes for Hihat seem to just be:
Closed
Open
Pedal
I was wondering is there a way that Jamstix can access these extra BFD hihat samples? And of course if so....how??

Jamstix 2 will support additional hihat open levels. Right now it's just closed/semi/open. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

cool.... The additional hihat open levels will be much appreciated... and it's re-asurring to know that you already have it on your agenda!
Jamstix 2 is going to be A-M-A-Z-I-N-G !!
It really is very exciting. (I can't wait !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) -(But I ain't got no choice!)
For now I am getting my kicks using my new M-Audio expression foot pedal as a velocity controller as I strum along with my guitars.. and change velocity to suit....

That'd be a great addition, and a welcomed one too for us BFD users. Along with a Mac version too (just kidding, I know it's on the cards at some stage, hopefully soon)
Cheers

Sounds great Zauni.
Some libraries like NSKit and the Scarbee Imperial Drums (and the bigger BFD expansion sets) support many levels of openness. Usually they have a setup similar to that used in eDrums where the value of some midi continuous controller (eg CC04) determines the degree of hat openness. Any chance Jamstix 2 could cater to this - outputting hat trig notes and/or CC04 for hat openness? |

OK
Will this be both ways? ie will CC04 coming in from eDrums work with Jamstix 2's own samples - assuming they also support more degrees of openness. |

CC04 in JS2 will of course still only trigger 3 levels (closed/semi/open) for existing JS sounds and Paks.
We have not yet decided on adding additional hihat levels to future Paks but at this time it is likely that there will be 5 levels (closed/quarter/semi/three quarter/open) in future Paks and the JS2 stock kit. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
