Hi, there,
Someone pointed me to Jamstix after I expressed not being happy with RMIV included with Tracktion 2. However, since I my main focus is writing my own drum parts, each hit via MIDI (with my own drum .wav's w/ multi-out for each drum type), how useful is Jamstix for this?
Is it being used for this sort of purpose? And how is the workflow compared to a standard drum "sampler"-only? Is it fairly easy? I am a little too burnt out on gear and would just like the simplest way to get my drum parts into Tracktion with samples that I already have.
Thank you and sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere here - it's late and I'm fairly exhausted!

Jamstix is very clever, but I don't think it's the right way to go for your requirements. _________________ Graeme

If you haven't already done so, I recommend that you try the demo.
Sometimes creating drum parts manually can get tedious. Jamstix can create a really good drum part including accents and fills (which are hard to program well) very quickly, based on settings that you choose. You can then spend time concentrating on making any changes that you need, either by using the Jamstix screen, or by exporting the track to midi.
You will also find many posts here praising the Jamstix sounds (add-on packs available too), which compare very favourably with other drum VSTs, and are excellent value for money.
I've got RMIV with Tracktion 2, but since I got Jamstix I've never used it.
Hope that helps

I need to point out that Jamstix does not allow you to load your own WAV files into its sample engine.
However, you can load your WAVs into another sample player that you can then load into Jamstix and save as a mapping so you can use the combo quickly and easily. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I second this.
Get the demo and look if you can take Jamstix´ approach to creating a rhythm over your own.
I have programmed beats myself for years (with very good success) but have never been able to achieve the level of realism and "being organic" that Jamstix provides. |
