Hi Folks!
First time user/first time poster...
and
WOW!!! What an amazing program! Thank you so much Rayzoon-ers!
Anyhoo..
I mapped the ambience track to output 4, but I find the balance skewed (snare left heavy, kick right heavy) But I can't colapse the width because that will center the cymbals.
Is there anyway to fix the snare and kick panning without touching the cymbals?
thanks! _________________ cheers

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but if you go to the Mapping tab, select a Sound (e.g. Kick), you can alter the Pan, as well as Sustain, Pitch, Volume etc.
Hope that helps!

Hi Alan.
That's almost what I'm looking for. But I'm assuming those pan controls are for the dry sounds.
I like the panning of the dry sounds, I just need to put the ambience/overhead towards the center more, without colapsing the stereo width of the cymbals. It sounds like the snare in the ambience tracks are left-heavy and the kick is right-heavy.
It just seems to me that the ambience tracks are skewed a bit (like unbalanced overhead mic placment).
Or maybe it's specific to a certain kit? _________________ cheers

The ambience is a fixed signal that cannot be panned. The reason why snare and kick are not centered is that the mikes are room mikes that are left and right of the set. The snare is not in the middle of the set but offset to the left and therefore louder in the left mike. The kick is offset to the right and therefore louder in the right mike.
This is less of an issue with overhead mikes as they are spatially adjacent and positioned above the snare/kick area.
What mapping are you using? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Thanks!!
I'm just using the standard mapping and kit that comes with Jamstix. I have no paks (yet!).
Where can I adjust overhead levels VS ambience levels? Could I output the overhead mics to a separate output and the snare/kick to another output and the ambience to a 3rd output?
(sorry, I've only owned Jamstix for 2 days!)

Please download and install the FreePak http://www.rayzoon.com/freepak.html, which probably has less of this separation effect in the ambience. Load the 'Jamstix FreePak' mapping and see what it sounds like for you. This will give you an idea whether the Paks may be better suited for your needs.

You can't. Jamstix sounds (except for close stereo kits) are recorded with close mike and room mikes only. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Thanks R!!!
I guess it's "kit-specific".
Time to get all the expansion paks now! _________________ cheers
