Hi all
I have started to play the guitar again after a number of years break (kids wife etc etc)
I used to record onto an 8 track but have recently got a computer to record
I’m using cubase sx and so far it’s going ok BUT I have been having problems trying to come up with some good drum tracks
I was looking at the kvr website and saw your product being discussed and now have the demo, boy does it rock
I have been playing around with it for about a week now and really love it BUT
I’m not too experienced with cubase or jamstix so was hoping to find some help before I buy it just so I can really make up my mind if its what I need
1) how do I change the volume for say the bass drum in the cubase mixer
2) how do I mix the whole song down when it done, cant see info on the midi track
sorry if any of these Q’s have been asked before but as you can see I’m really new to this way of recording
BTW really like the forum here on jamstix seems very friendly with lots of support
Thx for any help

Hi Stig12
In the Cubase mixer you can only control the volume of Jamstix as a whole, unless you send drums to different outputs. I'm not a Cubase user, but I'm sure this is easy to do once you know how.
A quicker option would be to adjust the bass drum volume in Jamstix. To do this, go to the Mapping tab, select Kick as the sound, and adjust the volume. There's other stuff that you can alter (e.g. pan, pitch, sustain) as well.
Provided you have created an Arrangement (i.e. you can hear drums when you play the track in Cubase) the Jamstix sounds should render (mix down) with all your other sounds. Jamstix holds it's own data, and this can be output as midi if you need it, but it's probably easier to edit it in JS unless you have a particular problem. The best thing is to give it and try and come back if you need more help.
Also, you might want to check out the Cubase thread in Jamstic Support.
I hope that's clear.

In addition to what Alan said:
When you create more outputs in Jamstix (output tab) Cubase SX will display it as more mixer channels.
For example: When you create 4 outputs in Jamstix, Cubase will have 4 mixer channels for Jamstix.
Now you only have to assign the different drum instruments to the different outs. You do this in the mapping tab.
Hope that helps. |
