Hi! Some questions:

1) Does JS ever vary tom patterns by changing the tom used, or by introducing flams, etc?

2) Would JS work in 6/4 time, or should I use 2+4 or 4+2?

3) is it possible to mask fills on certain beats, ie, say I have a fill that starts on beat 3, but I don't want the fill on beat 4?

4) is it possible to change the beat on which a fill starts? I notice some fills state, eg, "starts on beat 3" - can I change this?

Yes, some accents have such variables.

You would need to set up 4/4+2/4 in the host.

This will be possible in Jamstix 2. The current beta has some new fill filters that give you more control. We are also thinking about adding automation for 'Mute Brain' so you could silence Jamstix on beat 4 that way.

You'd have to hand-edit the fill files for now. Jamstix 2 will introduce a fill generator that will let you do such things easily.

Yeah, I've noticed that, but what I meant was, for example: say I had a tom pattern with a hit on every eighth, with accented hits on 1,4,7:

DUM dum dum DUM dum dum DUM dum

rather than introducing new accents, or fills whatever... would JS ever just take a really minimalist approach (Smile) and just, say, change which tom is used on beat 4, or use a flam?

This is the kind of thing I'd do when programming simple beats, just to add really simple variation to say, a four bar AAAA pattern, I'd have ABAC where B and C are just REALLY simple variations on A

?

Jamstix currently does not do that. However, we are planning things down this line for Jamstix 2.
