Hey everyone
I've just been working on a song arrangement... and have found proof that the ACCENTS department in jamstix needs work...

The ACCENTS function is cool by the way... just awkward to use.

I've already moaned how it could be easier to use... but today I have found evidence of it working AGAINST me... actually pushing against me making it harder for me to work and create...

I had a drummer friend come over and hekp me write a few patterns (why not get him to bring his kit and 'play; the drums?? too nosiy...and he dosen't keep as good a time as Jamstix!)

Anyway he made a bunch of patterns and a basic arrangement...
somehow... automatically.. (or how-ever?)... a whole bunch of accents got put in the arrangement... lets say for example on bars 2, 4, 8, 12 etc...

Now when I come to arrange the song how I want it.... I move the basic patterns around... but the accents stay..and stay where they were...

So I have tom and snare accents popping up on what I figure should be a clean and new arrangement....

I had to go through each bar and find each ACCENT then manually click that pattern to the RHYTHYM tab and manually uncheck each ACCENT...

IF the ACCENTS showed themselves in the ARRANGE page like a fill, intro or outro... not only could I have 'found' them all easily....but if we could just have that 'right click' function... I could have got rid of them all faster too...

I'm sure the team at Rayzoon are working on this as I write...

I just wanted to post this example of how akward ACCENTS are to use at the present time.

When building your own rhythms and you don't want accents, set the accent probability slider to 0% (for snare & toms) and accents will not be added at all...negating the need to manually remove them. By defaut the accent probability sliders are set to 15% for snare and 5% for toms.

Blindeddie is right for free jam or key word jam. For manual jam, just set the accent sliders to 0 in all your rhythms and all existing accents will be cleared. You can then manually place accents where you want them.

Displaying accents in the arrangement tab will be done when we get a chance...

You can do it on your own without too much work: copy the snare *.raf files which are in the \jamstix\accents folder to another place; rename them to something easy to identify later, like adding an ´F´ in the beggining of the name (you don´t even have to rename them, but I believe they´ll be easier to locate in the fills list); open the files in a text editor and where is written ´Type=Snare´, change to ´Type=Fill'; add a ´0´ in the end of ID numbers (just a suggestion, rule is that no two accents can share ID number); save them and place them in the \jamstix\folder (don´t change their extension).

If you do that, next time you open Jamstix you´ll have fills that are versions of the snare accents. You can do the same with toms accents. Well, you might find it too much work, but you just have to do it once, and snare accents aren´t these much (30 more or less). I haven´t done this yet cause I don´t care using snare accents in the rhythm tab.

Sorry for reposting this, but I think you could have done it already. I agree it would be much better if you could select accents in the arrangement tab, probably with a different color to make it easier to identify, but there are times (not very often for me) you want to use an accent and also a fill in the same bar, so how will it show in the tab? Eventually I´ll use snare+tom+fill to create complex transitions and to use combinations of techniques without the need for recreating a new fill that can be built with a mix of ready made accents.

I´m sure Ralph is working on this already, but you could get some work on your side that would simplify your workflow later, the tools are already there.
