Can anyone advise please?
I'm doing a rock track and I need hard hitting and damped Tom fills. I know I can reduce the sustain in Jamstix and use compression but I'm still learning and can't seem to nail it. Can anyone recommend a mix, eq, compression, etc. which would help me get a powerful sound on the Toms without the "bong", you know like a full on snare hit.
I will most likely manually program these fills in midi as they will be fairly simple and need to match some phrasing in the song.
I'm using Cubase SL. _________________ Regards to all

Short sustain, fairly high compression and maybe lowered pitch. I'd boost low mids to get the desired punch and maybe put a bit of a short reverb in the host to mask the short sustain and widen the response. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
