Hi, very new user here. Seems I choose the right time to join the club, since I think the Drum Pak 2 and the SnarePak are great additions to the sound palette. (I really love that Slingerland snare!)

Just a set of slightly tighter, drier toms missing, otherwise I could pack most of my other drum sound solutions away for good, I think...

Anyway, a question: I see that in the included Close Stereo mapping for DP2 (for example), the "Tom Bounce" sounds - among others - are set to "No sound". In another post, you recommended missing tom sounds to be replaced by lower-volume ordinary tom sounds. Is this something Jamstix does by default nowadays - generally, or in this case - or is it something each user should do him/her/itself?

(One of the reasons I ask is I vaguely recollect reading a post about some snare sounds being remapped by default if no specific mapping is made...?)

Apologies if this has been answered before... did some forum searching, but that didn't yield anything.

I think a lot of what I want with the toms can probably be achieved through reduced sustain and some EQ... I'll put Jamstix in a Tracktion rack, separate the outs, add some EQ, and see what I can come up with.

For reference, the benchmark for "drum sets suiting my mixes perfectly" is still the Sonic Implants BlueJay Small Ambient soundfont. An amazing piece of work, but a bit scarce in the features department by today's standards. (No X-samples, limited velocity levels...)

However, already Jamstix internal sounds come in second (annihilating the complete Battery 2 library among others), and I hadn't really expected as much! Plus, the convenience of having drum samples that you know have been specifically constructed and mapped to make the most of all Jamstix features is a great advantage.

(Of course, there are others out there to try as well... but 35 Gigs of drum samples on my hard disk? I think not... )
